Crafted from reclaimed cedar steeped in Canadian history, these handcrafted planter boxes come from the historic Grand Gibbons Building at 140 Dundas, originally built in 1912 by John Gibbons. Once home to Gray’s Dry Goods and Brewsters (which later launched Canada’s first Metropolitan Department Store), the building has seen decades of commerce, community, and change.
The cedar was salvaged from the executive offices and textile storage areas—its natural oils likely used to deter moths. Generously donated by current owner David Nava, who is restoring the site, the wood was carefully removed, transported, and transformed by a local team dedicated to preserving its legacy.
Each box is one-of-a-kind and carries the story of downtown London’s past.
